At BH Awning, we recommend regular cleaning of your product to extend their lifespan. Awnings and canopies are generally low maintenance and can be cleaned without removing the fabric from the frame. It is important to clean these structures regularly before dirt, grime and other contaminants accumulate and work their way into the material. Ideally, they should be washed down at least once a month with a garden hose.
Preventing dirt, leaves and other debris from gathering on awnings and canopies is best for product longevity. Trimming of trees, shrubbery and vines is suggested to keep them from growing into the material and causing stains and damage.
In the case of stubborn or dirt, awning fabric can be soaked in a solution of Clorox (1/2 cup) and natural soap (1/4 cup) per gallon of warm water for approximately 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold water. Be careful not to soak too long as Clorox can deteriorate fabric and any coatings.
After cleaning thoroughly, let products dry completely before storing.
